Here is the scoop on What’s Up this week in and around Amelia Island, Florida.
Continuing through July 24th, you have the opportunity to see the Crown Jewels. Though the British Crown Jewels never leaves the Tower of London, there is only one set of sanctioned replicas and you can find them on display at the Amelia Island Museum of History.
Tuesday night is the Fernandina Beach City Commission Meeting at 6 PM. If you have never been to one of these meetings you should go and see who your elected officials are and how they are handling the business of our community.
The 1st Annual Book Festival Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 1:30 at the Golf Club of Amelia Island. If you want to “Tee Off for Books” the fees are only $95.00.
Also on Wednesday is the Singers and Songwriter’s Night at the Frisky Mermaid, inside of the Florida House Inn. If Trivia is more your style, check out Trivia with Maggie, upstairs at the Crab Trap, both of these venues are located in the downtown historic district.
Thursday, from 7 to 4 is the Book and Gift Fair. This is a fundraiser held at the Baptist Medical Center on Lime Street. Also on Thursday nights is the Museum Pub Crawl. This is a new event that started last week and requires reservations. Every Thursday night, the museum will hook you up with four pubs. You will get a bit of history and a beverage at each location – for only $20.00.
Friday night at the Amelia Island Plantation Spa and Shops they hold their special version of a traditional Happy Hour. The Boardwalk Bash runs from 5 to 8 PM, features $1.00 beers, drink and food specials and live entertainment.
Saturday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 is the Artrageous Artwalk – this FREE event is a self guided tour of 13 incredible art galleries. This truly showcases the wide array of talent offered up by our local artists.
