13th Annual 8-Flags Car Show in Fernandina Beach
Last Saturday the Historic District in Downtown Fernandina Beach hosted the 13th Annual 8-Flags Car Show, organized by Woody’s BBQ and the Amelia Cruizers. The event turned out spectacular, not in the least because of a beautiful sunny Fall day, before the temperatures dropped. Traffic into town was bumper to bumper and parking space came at a premium. Thousands and thousands came out to admire a classic presentation of several hundred beautifully maintained vehicles from the past. Upon inquiring we were told that most of these “jewels” actually come from the greater Jacksonville area.
SearchAmelia took the cameras to the street and found some amazing classic, antique and remodeled contemporary vehicles. The tens of thousands of visitors to the one day event organized by Amelia Cruizers strolled leisurely around town enjoying this much traditional beauty. It shows that the annual Concours d’El√©gance on Amelia Island has a worthy “opponent” in this show, which is free to the public.
The Amelia Cruizer (www.ameliacruizers.org) contribute subtantially to local charities from proceeds of this event, which makes it even more worthy. A total of $71,000 so far in the past eleven years.
