Fernandina Weather and Hurricane Ida
Always expect the unexpected with tropical systems as Ida is now a hurricane. This hurricane covers a large area and we will likely see rain and winds from Ida by Monday evening. Go ahead and secure any loose objects in your yard that could possibly become a projectile as it looks like we will receive some gusty winds through the middle of this week.
As of 11:00 PM EST Sunday night, the National Hurricane Center puts Ida close to Fernandina Beach as a depression on Wednesday evening. Please monitor this storm closely!
It is easy to observe from the two images just how much the path has changed in the past six hours!
Today: Mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid to upper 70s and winds from the east at 15 to 25 mph.
Tonight: Clouds and a 40% chance of occasional showers overnight with lows in the mid 70s.

Ida may hit close to home
Tomorrow: Rain and thunder stay in the forecast with highs in the low 70s in Fernandina Beach and lows in the upper 60s.
Wednesday: Windy with a few showers, highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 50s. The reports from the National Hurricane Center show Ida practically over our heads in NE Florida on Wednesday evening about 6:00 PM.
Thursday: Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 50s.
