Taste of Amelia
The annual 2009 Taste of Amelia Fundraiser for the Nassau County Volunteer Corps in the Grand Ballroom of the Amelia Island Plantation was well attended.¬† Besides the host resort Amelia Island Plantation’s centerpiece gourmet presentation and Supermarket Harris Teeter and Winn Dixie, there were quite a few of the island’s restaurants cooking up a storm in the Grand Ballroom. 29 South, Horizons, Pepper’s Mexican Cantina, the Crab Trap, Amelia Island Food Concepts, Ops, Gourmet Gourmet and Fancy Sushi made it a mouth watering event, which was topped with a fabulous chocolate dessert presentation and tasting by Peterbrook, chocolatier.
The $40 per person entry was well worth the fare, as many apparently already knew from previous events. SearchAmelia was there as guests of Tony Baia of Amelia Island Graphics on Sadler Road and took the opportunity to take its cameras to find proof that even in challenging times Charity and Fundraising are very much alive.
An interesting observation was also that the silent auction did not harvest a lot of bids – 3 to 5 on average, but most winning bids met the posted retail values. The raffle drew much attention with a special emphasis on the last raffle prize, a set of 6 P√©tanque boules in a carrying case, which is very timely considering the Amelia Island P√©tanque America Open, that is taking place on the waterfront in Downtown Fernandina Beach this coming weekend and has attracted champions and celebrity chefs from Europe and the US.¬† Searchamelia and its restaurant review site ‘Amelia Bites‘ are particularly proud to have witnessed so many of its own sponsors to have contibuted to this worthy cause for the Nassau County Volunteer Corps.
Since I’m going into lock up for MDA (Jerry’s kids) on December 16, I have certainly found hope to collect the required bail. If you are looking for a valuable frugal Holiday Season, purchase our ebook Celebrate the Holidays with Frugal Flair.
You will be happy you did, I will be happy to limit my jailtime and Jerry’s Kids will be Happy with a donation. It’s a win-win-win.
Thank you!
