Creating jobs in small businesses is first objective
A conundrum is a paradoxical, insoluble, or difficult problem; a dilemma. Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr once said: “the conundrum, thus far unanswered, is achieving full employment without inflation” .
Hang on taxpayers, here we go again!¬† I just read a report that Washington has “dreamed” up another great plan that is going to play a major part in bringing home foreclosures to a halt.
Rep. Barney Frank, you know him, the idiot who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, the guy who just can’t seem to understand how all of this has happened.¬† He and his staff of financial wizards have devised a new plan that will keep the unemployed in their homes, this is wonderful news, for those who are unemployed and want to keep their homes.
The bad news will be for folks like you and I who are still employed and struggling to make ends meet while taxes, fees and cost of services continue to climb.  Frank has a plan that would take the interest that the banks are paying the government on  the loans made to them, refinance the homes of the unemployed so they can stay in their homes.
Am I missing something here?¬† Were we not told that we, the taxpayer, you and I, would see “profits” from these bailout loans that were made¬†to the financial institutions?¬† I don’t know about you but I can remember listening to Bernanke, Hank Paulson and Barney Frank telling us how these loans would end up showing a huge profit.¬† Not only were they going to save jobs, make money for you and I,¬† but these loans¬†would also create jobs in the long run.
Let’s see, financial institutions have continued to lay workers off, I have not seen any new jobs created and now the profits that we thought we were going to see are ear marked to be given to those who are unemployed so they can remain in their homes.¬† So, what am I missing here, I know there is a solid explanation to all this and no doubt I am the one just not seeing the big picture.¬† Perhaps there are a few of you who are¬†wondering what the heck is going on also?
We’ve all heard the old saying, “only in America” and this is proof positive¬†it’s true.¬† This is the only place in the world that you can be unemployed, receive a check every week, and that alone makes you now eligible to receive new financing on your home.¬† Why are we working?¬† Wouldn’t it make much more sense for us, those who are still beating our brains out on how to survive in this mess, just quit and do the same as our unemployed neighbors?
Once again I will make the same statement that I have been making for the past year.¬† Our economic situation will not get better until the small business sector is encouraged to expand beyond survival mode and new start up businesses are provided the support needed to get them going.¬† We have over 24 million small businesses in this country, if we only used half of them, twelve million, and then split that figure in half, six million that will fail and go under in the next twelve months.¬† Let’s assume they only have five employees each, a conservative estimate, what are we going to do with thirty million (30,000,000) new unemployed?
I think the wizards in Washington have missed the picture completely.  Our future is in  jobs and our jobs are in the hands of small businesses, not the mega boys of Wall St.
At some point we are going to have to address the real problem and do everything we can to encourage more businesses to expand and develope in order to see the unemployment numbers shrink.
Barney, I hope you and your fellow wizards will take another look at what your doing and for once consider doing the right thing.¬† Just do what makes business sense.¬† Sorry, I forgot, they’ve never been in business or had to sign the front of a business check, my bad.
