Arts Academy Gets Creative with Fundraising

Amelia Arts Academy is asking the community to save the date for their winter fundraising event. But there’s a twist- there is no event! Amelia Arts Academy is hosting a Non-Event, an occasion that will never take place, to raise funds for art and music educational programs. According to the Un-Invitation that is being mailed and distributed throughout Nassau County, “Stay Home, Kick Back, Read a Book, Watch Football, THINK ART!”

Amelia Arts Academy is a non-profit community school of the arts that provides art and music education and cultural events to people of all ages. Programs at Amelia Arts Academy include Miss D’s Elementary Band, a community band and string ensemble for adult amateur musicians, visual arts classes and camps, private music and art lessons, and numerous concerts throughout the community. Tuition at Amelia Arts Academy is based on income, and each year the Academy gives out more than $12,000 in tuition assistance, scholarships, and free programs.

The Non-Event is a grassroots effort to increase community support for Amelia Arts Academy. “We know Amelia Arts Academy is important to our community, and there are many people out there that would financially support the Academy, but can’t afford the time or expense involved in attending your typical black tie fundraiser,” says Pegge Ealum, executive director.

“Creativity is the heart of our organization! A creative fundraiser is only appropriate, and this one is fun! We hope the people that receive the Un-Invitation will get a laugh and be inspired to support the Academy,” says Jane Lindberg, President of the Board of Directors. ”Plus, unlike your typical fundraiser, donations made to the Non-Event are 100% tax-deductible.”

Amelia Arts Academy is a registered 501C3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide education in the arts at affordable rates to all interested persons, regardless of age, race, religion, ethnic origin, financial means or level of ability. The Academy has been carrying out this mission since 1992 through individual instruction, group lessons and ensembles, after-school art and music workshops, programs for the disabled and disadvantaged, creative arts programs for seniors, community entertainment, guest performances, and more.
