Holidays are No time for suffering a toothache

Anything that lets me sleep

Anything that lets me sleep

Surprises come in many different packages, especially during this time of year.¬† A couple of days ago I felt a little “something”¬†in my jaw, I didn’t pay much attention to it.¬† About two in the morning I took full notice, a terrible toothache.¬† Now I know as we all grow older we¬†see changes in our bodies and our overall¬†health.¬† I have always been one to take pretty good care of my teeth.¬† It was only three years ago that I spent a good amount of money on my teeth.¬† Why then would I suffer a toothache now?¬† I brush, floss, gargle and see my dentist for cleaning and exam twice a year, so what’s up?

I guess it is all about surprises and the packages they come in.¬† This particular ache is under a crown, you know one of those $900 packages.¬† No doubt it will require procedures that will range from X-Rays to root canal to a¬†new crown, more then likely a couple of thousand dollars before all is said and done.¬† The next surprise comes when you try to get in to see the dentist and you are told that soonest will be four days away.¬† I have no choice but to put up with this throbbing ache until Monday, but I am counting the hours down.¬† I can remember my father having some dental problems, even in the 1950’s his decision was to simply have them all removed and invest in false teeth.¬† I can tell you after having only very little sleep now for the past two nights, the thought of ending all dental problems with false teeth has crossed my mind several times.

This has given me a chance to try out different home remedies to relieve a toothache.  I have tried many different things, ora-jel, whiskey, warm salt water, OTC pain medications and the like.  So far I like the old home remedy of swishing good whiskey around the affected tooth, then swallow.  I find if I do this often enough I seem to feel better, all over.  I think until Monday I will stay with this remedy.  If you have a good home remedy I would like to hear about it.

I even tried this but miserably failed.

  • A remote controlled car needs a bit more power and problem is that you still know when it is going to happen but tying the knot around your tooth and putting a seat next to an opposite opening door and tying the string to the doorknob may give you the "surprise needed to relax" as you never know when someone will open the door and secondly the force is normally great enough to pull out the darn thing.

Anyway, spirits may make live look rosy but they are still "sugar" based and as such may give some temp relief but the "remaining sugar content" will in most cases make it worse but then again, who cares as long as you don't feel it.

It sounds to me like you have found the perfect remedy for that tooth pain. I don't have a toothache yet, but I think I will try that remedy just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advice.
