Living on bread and water for 2 months
This past week has once again proved that the USA embraces a double standard and to a large degree has lost it’s moral compass. No I’m not ranting at the Government, nationally or locally. Those rants are yet to come. No, in this case my rant deals with the previously untouchable Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods has been coddled since he appeared on Johnny Carson at the tender age of five. And that he’s still being coddled is clear from the PGA tour announcement this past week that Tiger’s indiscretions do not ” rise to the level ” of violating the tours code of conduct.
Are you kidding me!!!! Tiger can violate the Ten Commandments, the precious trust between a husband and wife, and simply lay low while the PGA tour protects him. WOW!!!
There is no doubt, the existence of a double standard is alive and well. As for Tiger’s sponsors… think long and hard about your current and future relationships with Mr. Woods. Granted he is a dominant figure on the golf course, however, he also may well be known as a dominant “womanizer”/golfer.
Shame on you Tiger! And shame on the PGA tour! Both need to do some serious soul searching, especially during this time of year. I’m sure wife Erin and the children will wonder about Peace and Love this year.
Rant #2
Sorry to my readers, I really didn’t want to write this Rant but, alas, here we go.
I am appalled by the continued commercialization of Christmas. Have we lost our path? Why do we continue to go into debt for a holiday that only requires us to “Love thy neighbor and praise our Savior”? I can’t believe, in the¬† energy dependent crisis we face, people/neighborhoods continue to pressure one another¬† to out do one another with their home lighting. Again, I ask, have we forgotten the real meaning of Christmas? Wouldn’t we all be better served if we truly made an effort to a “random act of kindness?” Those who have read my previous rants know this is very important to me.¬† I know making financial donations is a very important part of giving back, however, I challenge my readers to go beyond their comfort zone. Reach out and help someone, whether you know them or not. Remember, this is Christ’s Birthday, act towards others as you would have them act towards you. Take a moment, step back and think of what’s really important. Does it really matter¬† if your child does not get the latest greatest toy? Wouldn’t it be better to show our children the real meaning of Christmas! And the best way to embrace the Season and be a role model? Get you and your family involved in giving back to our fellow citizens. Remember, rich or poor, we all breathe the same air. Make a difference! Help someone less fortunate. Remember the real meaning of the season and pass it on to your children.
“Spiritus”
Merry Christmas and hopes for a prosperous, healthy New Year.
