During the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant I was forced to eat my words of the Festival not having been plagued by bad weather since I attended. I credited Miss Price and her staff of Volunteers for this lucky star example, but was proven wrong 15 minutes after the contestants in the Hampton Inn Harborfront sponsored Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant finished their rain dance to the evergreen “Singing in the Rain”.
I had looked several times at the weather satellite prior to going downtown for the Pageant and every time it showed good weather, dry and sunset. Well the beautiful group of 21 high school young women changed that in a heart beat, even to the extent that Pirate Invasion and Fireworks had to be moved up in time to avoid being rained out.
Another sign of girl power?
Today’s forecast says partly cloudy and temperatures in the upper 80s. Grab a hat or an umbrella and go see the Blessing of the Fleet at 1pm, enjoy the shrimp, the artistry, the kidzone and the ever entertaining “Swinging Medallions”.
