2015 Final Fernandina Relay for Life Team Party

No matter why you take part in Relay, one thing is clear: with every step you take, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives.

2015 Final Fernandina Relay for Life Team PartyThere will be one last Team Party for the upcoming Relay For Life being held at Main Beach on Amelia Island, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

This will be an informal open-house and we invite you to join us to get more information, register as a team or survivor (it’s free!), become a sponsor, and learn how to get involved. Existing teams and participants can drop off any money you have collected, get the scoop on event games, planned activities, and themed lap details. There will be fundraising and team packets to pick up, sign up for your team and booth location, and select the country you will be representing as we spread Hope Around the World!

Amelia Hotel at the Beach, located at 1997 South Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach, will be hosting this Team Party on March 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. There will be free refreshments and prizes, too!

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in our community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with additional communities in 20 other countries, gather to take part in this global Relay movement and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.

During this 12 hour community celebration individuals and teams take turns walking around a track relay-style to raise funds to fight cancer. There will be live bands, entertaining acts, themed laps, several contests, a luminaria decorating booth, a kid’s fun zone and team booths set up to educate, inform and raise more funds to fight back against cancer. At nightfall, participants will light hundreds of luminaria around the track in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors, as well as friends and family members lost to the disease.

No matter why you take part in Relay, one thing is clear: with every step you take, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives. Walking around a track is meant to symbolize that there is no finish line until we find a cure for cancer. With your help, we aren’t just fighting one type of cancer – we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer. Relay For Life is about communities coming together to fight back against cancer. Together, we can make this 2015 Relay For Life even better!

We hope you will join us on March 3rd to learn more.
