Nominations are open for the 2019 Historic Preservation Awards, and you don't have to live downtown to enter.
It is time for the City of Fernandina Beach’s nominations to be submitted for the 2019 Historic Preservation Awards. You need to enter this year, Folks, because I recently bought a home as old as I am, and I’m planning to do plenty of renovations. These awards are designed to recognize the efforts homeowners put into their homes to preserve the identity of our community. Offered every other year, there in no fee to submit a nommination and you have until March 29, 2019.
ANY city project is eligible, not just the downtown, historic areas. Sponsored by the City of Fernandina Beach, the Fernandina Beach Main Street Program, Amelia Island-Fernandina Restoration Foundation, and the Amelia Island Museum of History, this program helps preserve our historic structures. The special treatment we show in our homes and on our property helps to maintain what makes Fernandina Beach special for future generations.
Visit www.fbfl.us/PreservationAwards for more information and to find nomination forms. You can also find more information at City Hall on Ash Street, or by calling the city’s Preservation Planner Salvatore Cumella at (904) 310-3143. Nominations are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019.
Enter now… because I’m hoping to nominate my own unique home in 2021!
