Nassau County, FL – The Property Appraiser’s Office, in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Office and other county departments, will host the 2nd Annual Nassau County Government Day on Saturday, April 4th featuring a charity softball game to help raise awareness and money for some great organizations.
Last year’s event drew over 250 people and raised $1,600 for charity. This second annual event will include refreshments sponsored by the Farm Bureau and Coca-Cola, bounce house, and activities for kids, an Easter egg hunt for ages 2-8 years old, and many other exciting activities.
The event will be free to attend with small donations suggested.

Coming off the success of last year’s event when the Property Appraiser’s Office defeated the Tax Collector’s Office to remain undefeated, Property Appraiser Mike Hickox and Sheriff Bill Leeper feel this is a great way to continue to assist those in need. “Many businesses and community leaders have stepped up to support this event,” said Hickox. “I’m proud that our government agencies can come together for a great cause.”
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Katie Ride for Life, United Way, and the James Page Scholarship Fund will all be beneficiaries from the event’s proceeds.
Nassau County Government Day will feature a softball game between the Property Appraiser’s Office and Sheriff’s Office. Other county officials will serve in various roles, such as Commissioner Pat Edwards as umpire, Tax Collector John Drew, Commissioner Junior Boatright, and Judge Foster serving as announcers, and Senator Aaron Bean serving as emcee and throwing out the first pitch.
The Easter egg hunt is being coordinated by members of the Nassau County School Board and will feature 1,000 eggs with prizes inside. Children are invited to bring their own basket and attend.
