Dr. Tim McKee, for the rare opportunity to hear him in concert on the "King of Instruments".
Fernandina Beach – Amelia Arts Academy brings back its founder, Dr. Tim McKee, for the rare opportunity to hear him in concert on the “King of Instruments”. McKee is well-known regionally, both for his vision in creating the county’s only community school of the arts, and for his talent on the pipe organ.
Opening the performance will be 12-year-old Morgan Waas, recipient of the 2009-2010 Henry T. Vollenweider Pipe Organ Scholarship. Waas has played the piano for 6 years, and has spent the year studying the Pipe Organ with Peter Deane. She is a first honors student at The Bolles School where she is a flutist in the intermediate band and a member of the chorus.
A ground-breaking addition to this concert is a “live painting” performance. Artist Brian Barnard will create an original artwork during the concert that is inspired by the music. “We wanted a way to incorporate the visual arts element of our Academy into our Sunday Musicale Series. Brian is a talented artist, and this will turn his visual art into a performance art,” says Executive Director, Pegge Ealum. The painting will be auctioned after the performance.
The Sunday Musicale will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Following the 5:00 performance, ticket holders will be treated to a social hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres provided by Bonito Grill & Sushi, Brett’s Waterway Cafe and The Crab Trap. There will also be the opportunity to meet and mingle with the artists. Tickets are $40 each and available by calling Amelia Arts Academy at (904)277-1225 or by visiting www.AmeliaArtsAcademy.org.
