This is the same musician famous for the Washington Post social experiment by Gene Weingarten; where Bell's incognito subway performance in Washington DC earned Weingarten a Pulitzer Prize.
Joshua Bell, a world renowned violinist, will be performing on February 1, 2019. In its 18th season, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival will hold this concert at 7:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church on 8th Street, in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Bell has won many musical awards and recorded over 40 CDs, and is the recipient of the Avery Fisher Prize. He plays a 1713 Huberman Stradivarius violin and his French bow is late 18th century Francois Tourte.
Does his name sound familiar? Perhaps it should. This is the same musician famous for the Washington Post social experiment by Gene Weingarten; where Bell’s incognito subway performance in Washington DC earned Weingarten a Pulitzer Prize. He played some of the most intricate music written for the violin – for 45 minutes – and only earned $32.00; two nights before, Bell sold out a concert in Boston with tickets costing an average of $100.00 each.
Tickets in Fernandina are:
