America does not Trust God in our Schools

There is more talk about “In God we Trust” being used in schools and money. In St. Augustine, Florida there is a current pending legal affair where District Judge Schlesinger has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Webster School in St. Johns County from rehearsing, "In God We Still Trust," A song by Diamond Rio.

There is more talk about ‚ÄúIn God we Trust‚Äù being used in schools and money. In St. Augustine, Florida there is a current pending legal affair where District Judge Schlesinger has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Webster School in St. Johns County from rehearsing, “In God We Still Trust,” A song by Diamond Rio.

The lawsuit was filed last month, because the complainants felt the song was too religious to be taught to their third grade students in a public school.

Here are the lyrics, what do you think?

“In God We Still Trust”
by Diamond Rio
You place your hand on His bible, when you swear to tell the truth.
His name is on our greatest monuments and all our money too.
An’ when we pledge allegiance, there’s no doubt where we stand:
There’s no separation, we’re one nation under Him.

In God, We Still Trust,
Here in America,
He’s the one we turn to every time the going gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength,
The one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.

Now there are those among us,
Who wanna push Him out.
And erase his name from everything,
This country’s all about.
From the schoolhouse to the courthouse,
They’re silencing His word,
An’ now it’s time for all believers,
To make our voices heard.

In God, We Still Trust,
here in America,
He’s the one we turn to every time the goin’ gets rough.
He is the source of all our strength, the one who watches over us.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America,
Here in America,
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America, in God, we still trust.
Here in America.

If you put it that way, Public School, i think I agree with the Judge. In a public school there is no room for segregation nor forced choices on ones belief. Often morals and values are attached to religion however almost all religions have very “bloody” hands. Not only in the past but also in the presence.

The Holy See just denounced to the poorest region of the world with the highest AIDS ratios that the use of the condom is condemned. In his eyes and institution it may be justified to make such as statement, in my medical book, he just committed mass murder with that same statement.

Strictly adhered, religion does not have a place in school nor does politics. Neither of them have morals to be thought that should be thought on the home level. If you wish to organize this beyond home and into a gathering of like minded than I suggest that as an after school activity.

The educational system is hardly the place to be battleground of a 2,000+ year dispute but it is the place to get the tools and foundation to survive and prosper throughout life by making choices that are founded on knowledge rather than belief. Schools are not extensions of religion nor the other way around.

No matter how patriotic the lyrics by Diamond Rio may be… they have frightening message: Religion and State are one.
