Saturday, December 13, in downtown Fernandina Beach, the Island Art Association is inviting everyone to a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The gallery’s newest Nouveau Art exhibit, Abstractions, is a themed, judged show. An artist from South Georgia, Mary O. Smith, was the judge.
Awards will be announced at the reception and this show will be on exhibit until January 31, 2015.
For the month of February, the Annual Nassau County High School Student Art will be on exhibit. The Island Art Association awards First, Second & Third Places, art supply gift cards from Cheap Joe’s Art Supply Co.
THE BLUE DOOR
This Saturday, December 13th, the eight artists of the Blue Door will be departing from their regular format during the Second Saturday Artrageous Artwalk. Instead of featuring the work of an individual artist, all of the studios will be open for a Holiday Market designed for your browsing and shopping pleasure from 5 until 8 PM. Small artwork will be available as well as large pieces with discounts given on selected work. Light refreshments will be available and many of the resident artists will be on hand.
The Blue Door Galleries are located at 205-1/2 Centre Street, next to the coffee shop and in plain sight of the town’s Christmas Parade, also scheduled that evening.
Also visit the three galleries on the corner of Ash and 3rd!
Sandra’s gallery is brim full of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry (a HUGE collection of period copper jewelry that you won’t see elsewhere), cards, etc.
Carol’s eclectic gallery has her own paintings, jewelry, purses, accessories, and “Angels”. If you don’t know what her “Angels” are, it is worth a trip up the stairs just to see them! Be sure to read their titles!
TRISH’S SLIGHTLY OFF CENTRE
Lots of lovely pottery by Trish and others, and some really neat, quirky folk art! It’s a small shop, but there are treasures everywhere. Look around slowly!!!
