Professionals Pair with Budding Artists at Amelia Arts Academy’s Summer Camps

Fernandina Beach, FL – This summer, children ages 4 to 18 will have the opportunity to learn art directly from professional artists at North East Florida’s Premier Summer Arts Camp hosted by Amelia Arts Academy. “We are proud to have the only summer camp in Nassau County with a full arts curriculum and the best Teen programs in the area!” says Pegge Ealum, Executive Director.

Last year’s Amelia Arts Academy summer Teen Art Workshops were voted Best of Jax for Kids. “The programs are going to be even more fun this year,” says Instructor, Amanda Orbich. June 14th through 25th Orbich will teach the “Larger than Life” art workshop. Under her direction, teenagers will paint a public mural on South 8th St. “We wanted to do something good for our community and fun for the kids at the same time. With this project, we can transform one of the more unsightly spaces on South 8th Street and the teens will have their artwork displayed on a ‘larger than life’ canvas,” says Orbich. In addition to the mural project, teens can chose from many other programs including “Real Rock Band” where amateur musicians will have a chance to form and play in a real band. Drawing and painting, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, and photography will also be offered.

Budding artists ages 4 through 11 can sign up for age-appropriate programming in visual arts and music. June 14 through August 9, kids can enjoy any or all of the nine weeks of educational and entertaining day camps.

Each week is a different theme that includes visual arts and music classes. Among the programming offered are “You’re in the Band” with an introduction to instruments, a chance to play in a band, and make and design uniforms; and an Off-Broadway camp with singing, acting, and set design. “This year, we have added more guest performers and fun activities. Our goal is to have the best summer arts camp around – one where the children have a lot of fun, but also leave with a new appreciation of the arts and of themselves. We want each of them to have the chance to explore a wide array of arts so that they discover their own unique talents.” says Executive Assistant, Theresa Duncan.
