Chef Kenny Announces Return of Select BBQ Favorites at Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen, AmeliaIsland, effective October 5, 2019. Chef Kenny thrives at feeding and pleasing the masses. In an effort to please locals and guests alike, he announces bringing back select BBQ favorites to Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen. After a one month trial with the new menu, Chef Kenny heard what people were craving for, and is delivering. Fresh amazing seafood and the BBQ favorites the community has come to love at GUK.
A few highlights include new hours which will feature being open 6 days a week, with Sundays being only take out with counter service from 11am to 3pm. Monday, Wednesday-Saturday hours will be 11am to 9pm; closed Tuesday. Features will include an express menu offering “just the meats”, sides and platters as well as signature items such as shrimp and grits, Brunswick stew, brisket, and garlic shrimp boil. Highly requested fried 1/2 bird chicken is making a return and the Ultimate Sampler has also made its grand return.
While Chef Kenny sat along the shore at Fort Clinch, and shared the bonds that inevitably come from waiting for a bite on the line, Kenny was reminded of catching and cleaning Whiting, Sea Bass, Amber Jack, Reds and other bounties from the sea. As he sat and cleaned fish with his son and his Uncle, it dawned on him that the area was in need of bringing these fresh catches and memories to the table. In an effort to provide the community what they are hungry for, Kenny has created his new concept and menus that will bring lightly seasoned, regional fresh catches to the table. The return of his BBQ favorites are sure to satisfy the masses who have been craving his specialized, Southern traditional favorites. Newly released catering menus, family style service options and a children’s menu have been added to the concept. These incredible catering services are available for off site events.
Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen also features a superb family style menu for large parties who care to dine at on site location.
