Blue Crab Festival

The Blue Crab Festival in Palatka is worth the trip! I know, you expected me to bash yet another one of Palatka’s festivals, but not this one!

This is their 22nd Annual event and it is always held on Memorial Day Weekend. The festivities kick off on Friday, May 28th will musical performance, live entertainment, food and fun.

In our economy you can afford to go to the Blue Crab Festival. The admission is free. The parking is free. The entertainment is free. Even the petting zoo for the kids is free. They even worked with this year’s vendors to keep the prices low… like half-price helicopter rides, only $10.00 and camel rides for only $5.00! You will also find bumper cars, a climbing wall, a kid’s train ride and a mechanical bull.

The fun continues on Saturday morning, May 29th, at 10:00 AM when the festival opens. There will be more live entertainment, rides, and activities! Remember, parking and admission are free so be sure to come back all weekend long, through Monday!

Saturday night’s headlining entertainment is Ben Robinson. Ben Robinson has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and Donny and Marie, but the best comment about Ben came from Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame, “I have seen a lot of smokin’ hot blues guitar players in my day, but I ain’t never heard anyone like Ben”.

Sunday’s entertainment includes another not to be missed musical legend in the making, after all, Jimmy Buffet sang about him in “I will Play for Gumbo”… The Sauce Boss!

“Bill Wharton a.k.a ‘The Sauce Boss’, is a favorite attraction at blues festivals, state fairs, and clubs all over the country for two reasons: He’s a wonderful player and singer, and he cooks up a mind-blowing gumbo right on stage, passing out the tasty results at set’s end… Wharton’s slide guitar is always innovative, and his high baritone matches the tunes perfectly… However, it could be the eatin’ side of things that will permanently hook you into the Sauce Boss’s universe…” BLUES REVUE MAGAZINE

Show your support on Monday at the Blue Crab Festival Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, honoring those who serve in today’s military and those who have served this great nation in the past.
