Blessing of the Fleet

The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is a celebration of the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Sunday afternoon of the festival brings attendees back to the roots of the festival with a Blessing of the Fleet and a Best Decorated Boat Contest and Parade that is open to all boaters.

This year the weather was spectacular for spending the afternoon on the waterfront. This video shows the ceremonious display of the boats being blessed with a prayer and holy water before the parade becomes light hearted with song and celebrations.
