Joey knows close to 200 tricks and now she's adding another skill to her resume, fundraising for a favorite cause.
Joey, the incredibly talented Border Collie, goes tubing, rides horses, helps out in the garden and even has her own Facebook page. She knows close to 200 tricks and now she’s adding another skill to her resume, fundraising for a favorite cause.
Joey was a star attraction at Friends of the Library’s Pony Up and Party fundraiser last year at Littleberry Farm just over the Shave Bridge from Amelia Island. There she met photographer and library supporter, Steve Leimberg, who asked her to model for him. In one photo Joey’s boning up on horses, perhaps to elevate her status in the Littleberry barn.
Joey and her trainer and companion, Fernandina Beach High School student Nichole Curry, are great fans of the local library. To help raise funds for new furniture, they will be adjacent to the downtown Fernandina Beach Farmers Market, Saturday, September 19. Joey will be selling and “pawtographing” her portrait, which includes a few of Nichole’s dog training tips on the back.
The Farmers Market is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Stop by the Friends of the Library’s booth and give this well deserving duo a pat on the back.
