Frightened by the fireworks on Friday Night, or the Pirate's Invasion on Saturdays, all of the noise and people can be stressful to a dog.
Though many pet owners who live in Fernandina Beach would not recommend bringing your four-legged friends to the Shrimp Festival, many dogs will be seen walking through the crowds on the hot, asphalt streets. Frightened by the fireworks on Friday Night, or the Pirate’s Invasion on Saturdays, all of the noise and people can be stressful to a dog.
For those who need to know, there will be a Pet Stop set up for those whose pets need to take a break from the crowds, find a shady place to rest, a pool to cool off, or simply a fresh drink of water and a snack.
Located at 17. South 7th Street in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach, there will be at least two pools, buckets of fresh water for drinking, some doggy treats and a tent set up for shade!
Many visitors arrive at the Festival unprepared for the enormity of it all, and the operators of this Pet Stop have set up this courtesy station so man’s best friend need not suffer.
While it is best to leave the dog at home, please help spread the word that there is now a safe place to take your dog if you need a comfortable, pet-friendly place to rest.
This will be the third year of the Pet Stop, and it is located at a private residence. There is no charge for the service.
