Dr. Peggy Bulger, retired Director of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, will present an informal discussion on the differences between the many genres of art that are self-taught, realizing that they are largely misunderstood. Using examples from her extensive collection, Dr. Bulger will explain how a folklorist views these genres and how they evolve over time (never in danger of “dying out”).
