Tim Driscoll brings The Lengths to Rendezvous Festival

Tim Driscoll brings The Lengths to Rendezvous FestivalTim Driscoll will be in attendance at the 2016 Rendezvous Film Festival with his full length feature film, The Lengths. If you can only take in one film at this year’s festival, this may be the film to see.

Tim is the co-writer, director, and producer of the film. Born and raised in Jacksonville, he attended Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts. Driscoll will stick around for a Q & A session after the 5:30 p.m. screening of the film on Friday, June 3, at the Amelia Island Museum of History.

The Film Festival Awards are piling up for this coming of age, hipster road trip, co-written by Joel Russo, and featuring Tim’s brother, Cory Driscoll as Tom; Joshua Mikel as Charlie; and Corsica Wilson as Hannah.

When Tom receives a wedding invitation from his ex-girlfriend, Lily, with a hand written, “Save Me” message scrawled in the corner, his homeless and jobless best friend Charlie encourages the road trip, where they pick up hitch-hiking Hannah along the way.

Interesting is the fact The Lengths was crowd funded through Kickstarter, and additional funding was raised in Jacksonville at the inaugural One Spark.

Shot is just 28 days, across six states, with a crew of eight, and a principal cast of three – this film features a number of local businesses and talent.

Bounty Momma Always Gets Her Man

Bounty Momma Always Gets Her ManActress, Director, and Producer Wendy Keeling will be traveling from Nashville, Tennessee, to Amelia Island this week for the Rendezvous Film Festival being held in Fernandina Beach June 2 – 4, 2016. Starring in the film, “Self Offense”, she attended last year’s festival and looks forward to returning for the entire festival this year.

Her new project is directing and starring in, “Bounty Momma“, an award winning web-series. If Reno 911, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Dog the Bounty Hunter had a love child it would probably be Bounty Momma! The pilot episode will be screening at the Rendezvous Festival.

Here is the description:
The bounty hunting world will never be the same under the watch of hot tempered redneck momma Twyla Sue Dollarhide and her dim witted family. Twyla Sue Dollarhide, aka “Bounty Momma”, is a no-nonsense southern firecracker with a reality show who, despite the incompetence of her gun toting lamebrain family and film crew, proudly boasts that she “always gets her man”! This reality parody brings the viewer inside the day to day of a dysfunctional family business that turns otherwise mundane bounty escapades into mayhem and madness.

The Bounty Momma screening is scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2016, at Fernandina Beach City Hall located at 204 Ash Street.

Another project of Wendy’s is “The Unconventional Gourmet” scheduled for a Midnight Screening on June 3, 2016, at Halftime Sports Bar and Grill located at 320 South Eighth Street.

This award winning dark comedy short film is about a woman stuck in the 50’s searching for the perfect ingredients in an unusual family recipe. It is a twisted modern take on a well known fairy tale.

Here are the reviews for this short film:
A short film that’s not short on creativity. It’s edited beautifully drawing the viewer in, with captivating cinematography and content.”
Kimberly Michele Durham
KCheleMagazine.com

“Nicely shot with slick editing and great performances.”
Vahid Vahed ‘Çinewest Festivals’ Director (Australia)

Rendezvous Festival’s Movie House Continues at Sheffield’s at the Palace

Rendezvous Festival's Movie House Continues at Sheffield's at the PalaceThe Movie House, presented by the Rendezvous Festival and hosted by Sheffield’s at the Palace, continues this Thursday evening, February 12th, with The Birder’s Guide to Everything, directed by Luke Matheny.

Crossroad Films sums up the movie, “David Portnoy, a 15-year-old birding fanatic, thinks that he’s made the discovery of a lifetime. So, on the eve of his father’s remarriage, he escapes on an epic road trip with his best friends to solidify their place in birding history.”

Starring as David in The Birder’s Guide to Everything is Kodi Smit-McPhee, a young actor also seen in Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Other actors in the film include James Le Gros, Daniela Lavender, Katie Chang, Alex Wolff and Ben Kingsley.

Director Luke Matheny received the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for God of Love. After the Academy Awards in 2011, The Calgary Herald reported, “We didn’t know who Luke Matheny was before he won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short for God of Love, but we fell in love with him the moment the mop-haired director opened his mouth… the young filmmaker’s enthusiasm was infectious, and even the Hollywood elite applauded when Matheny thanked his mother…” And with his mother’s ties to Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach applauded him, too.

Hide Your Smiling Faces, a film that has earned a variety of awards and nominations, will be featured at The Movie House on February 19th.

A new movie will be featured every Thursday night until the Rendezvous Festival opens on June 5, 2015. The doors to Sheffields open at 6:30, and the movie screenings start at 7:00 PM. Tickets are only $10.00 and include a bag of popcorn. Hola! Cuban Café’s menu is available for order, and there is a cash bar.
