Federal action on snapper and grouper closures on the South Atlantic coast were postponed in mid-December, but the National Marine Fisheries Council promised a new effort to pass the amendment this year.

Contacting representatives in Congress is the best bet to turn the amendment back or at least to force its backers to produce the data upon which they base their findings. The amendment could include a complete closure of red snapper on the Southeast Coast of the United States.
