Grow your business by making and strengthening your connections with Amelia Island businesses at the Island Council. This business council meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month to network and discuss business issues.

Admission is free for Chamber members, $25 for non-members. Prospective members are invited to contact Business Development Coordinator Lynne Starling for information about attending. Optional pancake breakfast is available for $8.

Annual Awards Nomination Deadline – 5 p.m. Friday, December 7
AIFBY Chamber, 961687 Gateway Blvd., Suite 101G, Amelia Island

The Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its awards saluting achievement by the local business community in 2012.

Nominees will be evaluated on how they fulfilled the Chamber’s mission to promote responsible economic growth, employment opportunities, government and excellence in education and quality of life.

Nominations are sought from the public in seven categories:

    Large Business of the Year (25 employees or more);
    Medium Business of the Year (11-24 employees);
    Small Business of the Year (10 employees or fewer);
    Green Business of the Year;
    Business Leader of the Year;
    Young Business Leader of the Year; and
    Customer Service Representative of the Year.

Nominees must be members of the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce. A Chamber membership directory and nomination forms with complete nomination criteria are available online at www.islandchamber.com. Nomination forms also may be picked up at the Chamber.

Nominations must be returned to the Chamber by Friday, December 7.

Yulee Area Council
8:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 11

Come hear about the State Road 200 Corridor Study to improve mobility along this major corridor in east Nassau County from representatives from the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization during the Yulee Area Council meeting in December.

The study will identify short- and long-term operational and access management priorities for the SR 200 / SR A1A corridor and other connectivity enhancements for all transportation modes in the area.

This business council meets at 8:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month to network and discuss business issues. Admission is free for Chamber members, $25 for non-members. Prospective members are invited to contact Business Development Coordinator Lynne Starling for information about attending.

Small Business Development Center office hours
Wednesday, December 12, AIFBY Chamber of Commerce

Cathy Hagan, certified business analyst and area director at the Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida, is available every month at the AIFBY Chamber to provide one-on-one assistance to small business owners.

Business owners have the opportunity during these hour-long sessions to discuss any issues they’re facing, including business plans, marketing strategies and loan applications.

Cathy is at the Chamber the second Wednesday of each month. She also can meet with you at your place of business. Contact the SBDC at (800) 450-4624 or chagan@unf.edu to schedule an appointment.

Annual Membership Meeting, Sliders Seaside Grill

Get an overview of the Chamber’s activities in 2012, meet the incoming members of the Board of Directors and find out what the Chamber has planned for 2013 at the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce annual meeting, sponsored by Cooper’s Luxury Transportation and Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center at Amelia Urgent Care.

David’s Restaurant & Lounge Ribbon cutting
5 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 802 Ash St., Fernandina Beach

The Chamber of Commerce celebrates the opening of David’s Restaurant & Lounge, Amelia Island’s new fine dining restaurant, with a ribbon cutting.
