Amelia Island, FL – Mark your calendars and save the dates because the following is what is coming up in December at the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce:

Island Council
8:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4
The Mustard Seed Cafe, 833 TJ Courson Road, Fernandina Beach

Grow your business by making and strengthening your connections with Amelia Island-based businesses at the Island Council, which meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month.

Ribbon Cutting
5 p.m. Thursday, December 5
Edward Jones Investments, 1403 Park Ave., Suite A, Fernandina Beach

Join Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Directors as we celebrate the opening of Edward Jones Financial Advisor Kim Harding Boylan’s office in Fernandina Beach.

There will be an open house with light refreshments from 4 to 6 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at 5 p.m.

Come meet Kim and wish her success and enjoy light refreshments.

Annual Awards Nominations Deadline
5 p.m. Friday, December 6

The Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce is accepting online nominations for its awards saluting achievement by the local business community in 2013 through Friday, December 6.

Nominations may be submitted at www.islandchamber.com/Annual-Awards.aspx.

Nominees will be evaluated on how they fulfilled the Chamber’s mission to promote responsible economic growth, employment opportunities, government and excellence in education and quality of life.

Nominations are sought from the public in five categories:

    -Business of the Year (awards will be presented to the Large, Medium and Small Business of the Year from among the nominees)
    -Green Business of the Year
    -Customer Service Employee of the Year
    -Young Business Leader of the Year
    -Business Leader of the Year

Nominees must be members of the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce. Members of the AIFBY Chamber Board of Directors and their affiliated businesses and organizations are ineligible for award consideration.

Award recipients will be selected from among the nominees by the members of the AIFBY Chamber Board of Directors and announced at the Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation.

Yulee Area Council
8:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10
Chick-fil-A, 464004 State Road 200, Yulee

The Yulee Area Council meets at 8:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month to network and discuss issues of interest to the Yulee business community.

Amelia Home Health Services, 472456 E. SR 200, Fernandina Beach

Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Directors will celebrate the new ownership of Amelia Home Health Services with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.

Amelia Home Health Services, located across from Lowe’s under the green roof, will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with light refreshments, door prize drawings, discounts on compression hosiery, unique holiday gift ideas and discounts, and collecting donations of canned goods for the Council on Aging of Nassau County.

Ribbon Cutting
5 p.m. Tuesday, December 10
Family Support Services of North Florida, 96016 Lofton Square Court, Yulee

Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors & Directors will celebrate Family Support Services of North Florida Nassau County’s move to its new location in the Winn Dixie shopping center in Yulee with a ribbon cutting.

FSS will have an open house until 7 p.m. following the ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Come tour the new office, meet FSS staff members and learn about the work they do to assist children in our community.

Family Support Services of North Florida is the lead agency providing adoption, foster care, transitioning youth services and family preservation in Nassau and Duval counties. The FSS – Nassau Office serves the Nassau County community as a local resource center for child protection services and family preventive services by partnering with other area social services agencies, such as Children’s Home Society and Micah’s Place.

Annual Membership Meeting
5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 12
Fernandina Beach Golf Club, 2800 Bill Melton Road, Fernandina Beach

Get an overview of the Chamber’s activities in 2013, meet the incoming members of the Board of Directors and find out what the Chamber has planned for 2014 at the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership meeting and luncheon.

Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.; meeting starts at noon. Menu will include chicken tortilla soup, a Mexican buffet with sliced grilled chicken breast, Spanish rice, warm tortillas and more, and a baker’s choice dessert.

Admission is $20 for AIFBY Chamber members until Friday, December 6, $25 afterwards. Cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance.
