Nassau County, FL – A fundraising reception honoring Representative Denise Grimsley, Chairman, Florida House of Representatives Appropriations Committee was held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the beautiful Amelia River Golf Club. As a policy maker, Rep. Grimsley spoke on how she continues to prioritize the safety and security needs of domestic violence survivors and their children. She will not be satisfied until domestic violence ends and every woman and child are safe in their own home.

A recent accomplishment of Rep. Grimsley was the saving of four shelters from closing. Rep. Grimsley also has worked tirelessly to ensure critical funding for mental health and substance abuse services in the state.

Mr. and Mrs. George Sheffield sponsored the event and the co-hosts for the evening were Marilyn Evans-Jones, Laureen Pagel, Executive Director of Sutton Place, and Shandra Riffey, Executive Director of Micah’s Place. Tiffany Carr, CEO of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, visiting from Tallahassee, was also in attendance.

Micah’s Place and Sutton Place both are agencies that benefit from her incredible work.
