The Diary of Anne Frank will be playing at Amelia Community Theatre beginning June 9, 2011. This most current adaptation of the play, by Wendy Kesselman, includes newly discovered writings and survivor accounts creating a contemporary story that confronts the horrors of the Holocaust.
Charlie Horton directs this true story of a young teenage girl who goes into hiding with her family in Amsterdam during the Holocaust. Anne’s diary expresses faith and courage during a time of unspeakable adversity. “I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.”
In this video, Director Horton takes a moment to discuss the play, the young cast and the fantastic crew working on the set of what promises to be one of this year’s most memorable performances at Amelia Community Theatre. The play features Paige Markwell as Anne; Emily Eberwine as Margot; and Cohen Roberts as Peter. The magnificent cast also includes Gill Johnston, Maggie Carlson, Doug McDowell, Judy Tipton, Jeffrey Goldberg, Joe Parker, Tori Smith, Kevin Kessel and Jim Grethe.
Opening night is June 9th with a party at 7:00 PM and the play following at 8:00 PM. The play runs June 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25th at 8:00 PM. A matinee will be on June 19th at 2:00 PM.
