Hosted by Mamamelia.com, this event will benefit Girl Power 2 Cure, an Amelia Island-based 501c3 nonprofit hunting down a cure for Rett Syndrome. The debilitating neurological disorder strikes in young girls and stays with them for life. It is a sad condition, but there is hope! It is the first neurological disorder ever proven to be reversible.

Help cure Rett Syndrome and have some fun. We’ll be channeling girl power by entertaining, delighting and informing women and girls with 30 vendor booths, beauty treatments, a fashion show, fitness demos, make-and-take Mother’s Day cards and gifts, and prize drawings. Plenty for kids, too, including a “Diva Dress Up” booth, cupcake decorating, and more.

About the Girl Power to Cure, Inc.
Founded by an Amelia Island mother of three Ingrid Harding, her family moved to the island three years ago to escape the cold weather, which was especially hard on their daughter, Sarah, who has Rett Syndrome. The most severe form of autism, Rett is caused by a single gene mutation. Another girl is born with Rett every 90 minutes. Doctors believe Rett will eventually be cured because it was proven to be reversible in studies in mice. The cure for Rett is expected be the key to a cure for many other neurological disorders, as well.
