Our advertisers are up to some interesting things on and around Amelia Island this weekend and we invited them to give SearchAmelia a “heads-up” so we can pass along the information to our viewers. This weekend will be nicer than we have seen this winter in Fernandina Beach, so get out of the house and go do something!

Sounds on Centre returns to historic Fernandina Beach on Friday night from 6 to 8:00 PM with live music, dancing in the streets and Pirates!!!

Pipeline Surf Shop is presenting the first Eastern Surfing Association’s surf contest of the year on Saturday, March 6th, just south of Sliders near the City of Fernandina’s Seaside Park at Sadler Road and Fletcher Avenue at 9:00 AM; waves are required! Though Saturday won’t be warm enough for bikinis, it will be a beautiful day to observe the skills of these talented young surfers.

Also, the new spring lines have just arrived at Pipeline (within walking distance of the surf contest) including new Quicksilver Diamond Dobby boardshorts, Hurley Phantoms and Oneill Hyperfreaks. Pipeline carries the best performance boardshort in town! Also just in are new Guys and Girls Reefs, Quicksilver sandals, Roxy handbags, and a brand new bikini line from Fox Ladies. Ladies also have selections in Super-stretch boardshorts and finally, bikini tops with D and DD cups!!!

One of our newest advertisers is the Palace Saloon and they always have something going on! Their calendar of events is the best place to look for information,

but I was absolutely thrilled to hear that in the back-room, every Sunday night in March… drum roll please… Jason “Buck” Smith will be performing live from 9:30pm to 1:30am! Don’t miss your opportunity to hear this amazing American Idol Finalist!

We also wanted to bring your attention to the Waterwheel Art Gallery. Stephanie Media, owner and operator, has decided the gallery, after 28 years in the same location, has outgrown the building and is excited to move to a larger, more upscale setting on the south end of the island. Because of this, the current building and lot is up for sale. Call Grace Lipman at Century 21, (904) 261-5571 ext. 13 or email Grace at GraceLipman.com if you are interested in the property. Stepanie wants more options to offer her clients which she cannot do at this location. She won’t be moving until the property sells, so please continue bringing your framing in…. the trucks aren’t backing up to the doors just yet!

Man- so much to do and so little time- Hope we can take it all in and enjoy every minute of it while doing so! We will give it our best shot. Might have to put off getting that tattoo till next week though!

And on Saturday you can go and play Petanque on the waterfront downtown. Get yourself over there and try this fun game and maybe you've got the talent to enter the regional Petanque tournament on March 27… I think it starts at 10 am.

Nothing special about petanque this weekend, you can play petanque any day of the week in Fernandina. There are courts next to Philly Boys by the Palace, the downtown waterfront and I heard Wicked Davey's was going to put in some courts, too. Fun game the entire family can play!!! (The tournament is 9:00 AM SHARP by the way)
