Fernandina Little Theatre’s “Poetry Canteen”, is a monthly gathering of people who love poetry and who are looking for an opportunity to share and learn in a relaxed environment.

Attendees (poets or people interested in poetry or just the curious) are encouraged to bring a poem they would like to share: one that speaks to you or one you have written. Each selection should not exceed 5 minutes. You, or one of the folks attending, will be invited to read the poem you bring. This is a gathering to celebrate the joys and possibilities of poetry, in a positive and casual setting, with Marilyn Wesley and Nola Perez facilitating. Amelia Musical Playhouse is presenting Laugh In Revue, a musically comic “blast from the past” on August 29 and 30th at 7:30pm. Directed by Linzy Marie Lauren Kennedy, the variety show features an entertaining, nostalgic blend of comedy sketches and songs from the 60′s that will light up the end of summer. This show will bridge the generation gap while providing a wistful walk down memory lane featuring go-go dancers and a group of soloists and backup singers singing some of the favorite songs of that era.

The theatre is located at 1955 Island Walkway right off 8th St. in Fernandina Beach. Tickets are $15 and are available at the theatre, or on the website www.ameliamusicalplayhouse.com, or call the theatre box office at 277-3455.

Performances of this long-running FLT hit are Aug 30 and Sep 2, 4, 5 & 6 at 7:30p, and Aug 31 at 4:30p.

Tickets are $16.50 for all performances except the Tuesday performance on Sep 2 – tickets are $14.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at The UPS Store located in the F.B. Publix shopping center.

    Can the events be for a fee.  We have art workshops but they are not free although open to anyone who wished to attend and pay the fee.  These are nationally known instructors and  do not come for free.

    Events that are one day events are perfect for the calendar, and of course multiple day festivals, even if there is a fee or admission price. If the event/class is multiple days a press release is encouraged, and we publish those for free, too. (Sometimes we will put them in the calendar AND publish the press release information.)
