The Amelia Island Museum of History will deliver their 3rd on 3rd Program in January 2020 entitled, Florida Oranges: A Colorful History with author Erin Thursby. The event will be held on Friday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m.
The first orange groves, planted in St. Augustine in the 1500s by Ponce de León, were the precursor to what would become an integral part of Florida’s identity. Orange groves slowly spread across the state, inspiring horticultural and manufacturing ingenuity.
Join the museum as author Erin Thursby explores the history of the Sunshine State’s most famous crop. Signed copies of her new book will be available at the event. Attendance is free for museum members with a suggested donation of $5 or $10 for non-members. Seating is first-come, first-served and is wheelchair accessible.
