Fernandina Weekend Happenings

We are on the brink of another great weekend in Fernandina Beach and here are a few things that are happening around town.

Friday begins the Friends of the Library book sale at the Peck Gym in Fernandina Beach on Friday from 9:30 to 5:00 PM and on Saturday the 17th, from 9:30 to 3:00 PM.

The Katie Ride for Life is happening on Saturday beginning at 6:00 AM, please be aware that many people are participating in this ride/walk event and motorists should use extra caution and expect to share the road with lots and lots of bicycles on Saturday.

Second Amendment Gun Range on Highway 17 South in Yulee is hosting their Grand Opening celebration with prizes, discounts, raffles, simulator rides, food and music. If you haven’t had a chance to visit this indoor shooting range in Nassau County, now is your opportunity.

Salute to Heroes, is a way for Sears on Amelia Island and in St. Mary’s, Georgia, to say “Thank you”. They are offering an extra 10% discount to local heroes on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Military, Veterans, Firefighters, Teachers, Police and Hospital staff get an EXTRA 10% off of Sears’ already lowest prices of the season! The Fernandina Beach Sears is located in the movie theater shopping center on the other side of Club 14 Fitness. Club 14 by the way, is still offering their Spring into Savings membership special of joining for 99 days for $99.00. This is just in time to get you into bathing suit shape by mid summer!

The Crab Trap has introduced a new menu (you can find it just above the Google map if you click on this link) if you are looking to try something different for dinner, and Cold Stone Creamery has introduced an OREO filling flavored ice cream for dessert.

The Pipeline Surf Shop has new inventory for all of your beachside needs on display in their 3,000 square foot showroom.

For late night fun, Sheffields and The Palace Saloon provide you with entertainment by Wes Cobb in the Palace until 1:30 AM on Friday and Saturday, and if you haven’t seen Jason “Buck” Smith yet, you must see this amazing American Idol Finalist, live at the Palace, on Sunday, April 18th from 9:30 PM until 1:30 AM.

Sunday is a great day to stroll the shops in historic Fernandina Beach. Amelia’s Fine Jewelry carries an incredible variety of jewelry and remember, Mother’s Day is about one month away! Are you looking for spring fashions, a new Pirate Costume for Shrimp Festival, a piece of furniture or possibly a prom dress? Why not try to shop at all of Amelia Island’s consignment shops in a single day? Good luck with that!

This just in… the Rockin’ Trio Blistur, who we all thought had completely outgrown our sleepy little town, will be performing on Amelia Island at The Edge on 14th Street on Monday night. Now, honestly, I have not been inside of River’s Edge in a very long time, so it will be interesting to see the changes I have been hearing about.

Tax Season is over, so take a deep breath and enjoy your weekend!
