Historic Fernandina has a fabulous farmers market on N. 7th Street, known as the Fernandina Beach Market Place. Open on Saturdays, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, the market is family oriented and pet friendly.
Imaging strolling through the market as the smells of fresh baked bread entice you to Rudy’s booth full of rolls, cookies, breads and more. Perhaps you would be tempted by trying a sugar scrub with Tressa at A Natural Wave Soap? Did you know honeys come in a variety of flavors? Well, at the Market Place you can taste several different honeys at the Cross Creek Honey Company booth.
Wooks will let you taste any or all of their four varieties of beef jerkies in Hickory, Black Peppered, Teriyaki or my favorite, Spicy Cajun; and Natural Springs Dairy sets out a sampling of their farmstead cheeses to try, too. My latest discovery is watermelon. This is no ordinary watermelon, this striped delight is yellow on the inside and so very sweet and tasty!
Peaches, cherry tomatoes, cut flowers, squash, beans, canteloupes, peppers, eggplants and more are available from a variety of local farmers. One of my favorite things to do at the farmers market is watch the joy on the faces of children and adults alike as they taste and sample their way through the street.
Visiting the Market Place is just like visiting home! We hope to see you Saturday in historic, downtown at the Fernandina Beach Market Place. Entertainment this week will be provided by local musician Tracy Day, a refreshing original artist with a lovely voice and a well-tuned guitar.
We are open each and every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on N. 7th Street on Amelia Island. For more information visit FernandinaBeachMarketPlace.com, find us on facebook or call (904) 557-8229.
