Each team from the Fernandina Beach/Yulee community will each represent a different place around the world because cancer touches everybody, and no matter where in the world you are, communities can heal and grow by coming together for a common purpose… One World – One Hope!
This year, Relay For Life teams will decorate their booths in the vibrant colors and costumes of New Zealand, Kenya, England, China, the New World, and other countries.
The entertainment committee has been busy lining up great musicians such as Cumberland Sound, Laid Back Band, The Hambone Stumps Band, Jennifer Burns, and Jimmy Beats. Several themed laps are scheduled such as Las Vegas, Team Spirit and a Western Lap. There will be a tutu lap lead by Bean’s School of Dance, a head-band lap led by Pak’s Karate, and a Pirate lap led by the Fernandina Pirates Club. There will be fingerprinting, a children’s fun zone, Zumba Fitness, Ms. Relay and frozen t-shirt contests, a scavenger hunt and much, much more!
All of these activities take place while people walk or run on a track symbolizing how cancer never takes a break. Local businesses, schools, churches and families are encouraged to pick a country and make up a team of their own and join us for camaraderie, food, music, entertainment, and a full day of fellowship and games. There is no minimum fund raising required and there are no registration fees for teams or participants! To join in on the fun, please enter “32034” at RelayforLife.org to find our Fernandina event.
