Come for the traditional favorites you’ve come to love, and experience the international flavors you will also find in the farmers market in booths such as the African Love Kitchen, B & D’s Sauce Company, Joy of Garlic, and Bunna Coffee.
African Love Kitchen’s creations are made by Tanzanian Chef Ibrahim Mahem. He uses authentic recipes to provide restaurant quality dishes. Some of their most popular menu items include beef, chicken or veggie sambusa. Another Market Place customer favorite is their curry goat, curry chicken, and curry vegetables – and all are accompanied by jasmine rice.
Bunna Coffee brings fresh roasted, Ethiopian Coffee available by the bag. Supporting the fair trade of Ethiopian coffee farmers, they grind, package, and distribute this Ethipian coffee for the great folks of Fernandina to enjoy.
Golden Olive Press was founded for the purpose of introducing premium Spanish olive oils to American households. The geographical region of the world known for the “Mediterranean Diet” is closely associated to Spain, France, Greece, Italy, and Malta. It is here where their olive oils originate from. Not only is olive oil a healthy addition to your diet, but you can use it on your skin to cleanse, fight acne or treat sunburns. It will remove paint from your skin, and condition your scalp, and you can use it as a household lubricant, to detangle your hair, or as a natural massage oil. There are hundreds of uses for olive oil. Did you know olive tree cultivation and olive oil extraction artifacts and archaeological remains date back to the most ancient of civilizations? Even the bible tells us that after the great flood, it was an olive leaf a dove brought to Noah to prove the waters were receding.
B and D Sauce Company brings their specialty hot sauce to the farmers market each week made from Bahamian Bird Peppers. Bottled by hand, each bottle holds a unique, smoky pepper sauce that is amazing on greens, fish, beans, or try just a dash to light up the flavor of a simple cheese and cracker. All of the above vendors offer tasting samples of their products.
