First Federal Sponsors Newsletter for Take Stock in ChildrenThe local branch of First Federal Bank of Florida gives funds to sponsor the Take Stock in Children Nassau program’s inaugural newsletter.

Yulee, FL – Take Stock in Children Nassau was awarded a generous check of $500.00 last week by the First Federal Bank of Florida’s Fernandina branch to sponsor the first inaugural newsletter of the program.

“First Federal Bank is a proud supporter of Take Stock in Children Nassau,” said Mike Mickler, vice president market manager of the local branch. “We are hopeful that our contributions will inspire other businesses and individuals to also contribute to these important worthwhile projects.”

One of Take Stock in Children’s most worthwhile projects is providing college scholarships to under-served, but deserving students. The first inaugural newsletter will highlight the success story of one such student, Kimi Watanabe, who excelled at Fernandina Beach High School and was given the opportunity to attend the college of her choice. Through her collegiate trials and tribulations, Kimi leaned on the support of her mentor, and the entire Take Stock staff who she says kept her on track, and full of hope. The newsletter will also go on to reveal Kimi’s current success as a Sandalwood High School teacher in Jacksonville, Florida.

The bank, which has two local branches in Nassau County, is headed into its second year of sponsorship with the Take Stock program. During its first year, First Federal contributed to underwrite the “Keeping the Promise” brochure, an informational handout focusing on the unparalleled graduation successes of the Take Stock in Children Nassau program. The brochure also highlighted Take Stock’s long term initiative of providing college scholarships to every deserving child in Nassau County who qualifies for the program.

First Federal, who prides itself on being committed to helping local communities flourish, contributes the generousity of the community bank back to the customers they service.

Mickler said, “We are grateful to the loyalty of our customers who enable us to donate to these organizations that provide valued services to our communities.”

First Federal’s support of the newsletter will help Take Stock in Children Nassau to extend the reach of their program to all communities across the county. Business sponsors, donors, mentors, and volunteers in Callahan, Fernandina Beach, Hilliard and Yulee will receive the newsletter via mail during the last week of September.
