Press release – The Nassau Humane Society is very excited to announce the Grand Opening of their new Animal Rescue Center on Friday, November 7. Please join us at 11:00am for our Ribbon Cutting ceremony and then tours will be given from 11:30am through 1:30pm and 4:00pm through 6:00pm.
Additional tours of the new facility will be from 11:30am through 1:30pm and 4:00pm through 6:00pm on the following dates: Wednesday, November 12; Friday, November 14; Saturday, November 15.
Our new shelter provides additional space for animal rescue and indoor protection from the weather. Capacity for dogs has increased by 150%, from 25 kennels to 64. The new cattery has additional space in the open cattery for the 40-50 cats in our care, as well as private areas for less social cats or kittens. Dedicated space for adoption counseling helps increase adoption rates. Lab space allows us to care for animals in a less stressful environment.
This past fiscal year, the Nassau Humane Society had a record breaking year and found 714 homes for our sheltered animals. We provide food, a no-kill shelter and medical care for the abandoned, the abused, the surrendered and the rescued. Our mostly-volunteer organization strives daily to bring people and pets together – enriching the lives of both.
