Healthy Beverage

Green drinks are all the rage in healthy nutrition with their leafy vegetables and sprouts easily adding vitamins, minerals and amino acids to your diet. Nutritional guru Oz Garcia, Ph.D., is a highly regarded nutritional counselor and the best selling author of The Balance and Look and Feel Fabulous Forever (ReganBooks/HarperCollins).

Dubbed the “Nutritionist to the Stars,” Oz has worked with some of the highest-ranking Fortune 500 CEOs and many of film and fashion’s elite A-list. In his new book, Redesigning 50: The No-Plastic Surgery Guide to 21st-Century Age Defiance, Garcia features a recipe for his ‚Äúgreen drink‚Äù to help reduce the effects of aging.
There are many recipes out there for green drinks but here’s the one he recommends:

1 cucumber, peeled and chopped
3 stalks of celery, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 apple cored and chopped
1/2 cup of fennel
1/2 cup of kale
1/2 cup of rainbow chard
2 to 3 sprigs parsley, chopped
1 slice or a squeeze of fresh lemon

Put the cucumber, celery, apple, and fennel into one bowl.
Put the kale, chard, and parsley into another.
Alternate the ingredients of the bowls through a high-powered juicer.
Serve immediately in a large glass.

They say the flavor may be hard to get used to and you can add a bit of water and more lemon if you need to.
