Jadem and the Weejum, A Cats Angels’ Adventure was written by Mary Ann Bator-Gray and features real cats from Cats Angels, a rescue mission for felines in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
This charming children’s book features the adventures of eight year old Jaden who is approached in the night by a Weejum. Weejums are magical creatures with human like features and rabbit shaped ears that help children in need. Keelee, the Weejum, is joined by four cats from the local animal shelter who have come to help Jaden find two emotionally important toys she has lost.
As each chapter ends, the reader is taken on their own adventure by choosing which path Jaden and the Weejum will follow in the story. Lively action and colorful descriptions will keep young readers and the young at heart engaged as you, like Jaden, can only hope you have made the right decision proceeding into the following chapters.
Books sold in the thrift center at Cats Angels on 8th Street in Fernandina will receive 100% of the $8.00 cover price. For other local charities, the author will give them 60%.
You can meet Mary Ann Bator-Gray at the “Rescue Me” fundraiser for Cats Angels on October 16, 2011 and at “Pasta for Paws.”
Mary Ann Bator-Gray lives on Amelia Island, Florida with her wonderful husband and three cats. She enjoys writing and walking the beach, but loves the time she spends at Cats Angels, caring for the many other felines until someone gives them a forever home.
There will be more Jaden and the Weejum adventures since the female felines at the adoption center are meowing and hissing to have their turn. You can visit these special cats at their website, www.catsangels.com.
While the book was being written, two of her main cat characters, Slinky and DT, have found a forever home. Big Blackie and Shakespeare are still waiting for adoption.
