Stop digging further if you are in a rut
Stop digging further if you are in a rut
Have you ever felt that you were stuck in a rut and day after day it’s the same ole thing,  nothing ever changes?  You would be surprised at how many people feel this way and would love to change it.  It can be changed and it is not difficult to do.  Here are a few tips on how to get out of that rut and start enjoying life again.

The first thing you need to do is make up your mind that you are going to change.  That’s right, you are going to change.  You see we are truly creatures of habit.  We consistently do the same things, over and over.  Folks, as long as you continue to play the same record you will always hear the same music, you want something different, you need to change the record.  No one can do that but you.

Start by changing what you do on a daily basis.  If you take one particular route to work, change it.  If you go one certain place for lunch, change it.  Ask someone different to go to lunch with you, strike up new conversations.  Change your attitude about the cards life has dealt you.  It’s not bad to have a bad hand, if you know how to handle it.

Next, set some short term goals for yourself.  If you are use to drinking three cups of coffee every morning, change it to two and add a couple glasses of water.  Add something healthy to your daily diet, make a list of it and tell others what your doing.  Celebrate your small accomplishments by telling others what you have achieved.

Tonight go into that closet that you have not cleaned out in the past ten years and start cleaning.  Most of us have “stuff” in our closets that have not been viewed by human eyes in years, do we really need whatever it is?  I call this de-junking your life.  It will amaze you at how free and good you will feel when you finish this one little task.

Take your wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, significant other or friend out.  It does not have to be to dinner, it could be breakfast or lunch, how about a walk on the beach or along the lake?  Do something different, change that record, listen to some new music for a change.

The easiest thing in the world to do is nothing.  This is exactly how we build those deep ruts in life, by doing absolutely the nothing about the habits we have set for ourselves daily.  We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.  In order to change, we have to make up our minds that we are going to change our old habits.  See you on the dawning of a new day.
