Man Arrested After Striking Woman With a Hammer

Terrell JonesFernandina Beach, FL – The Fernandina Beach Police Department is currently investigating a domestic battery case that occurred in the early morning hours of August 18, 2011.

At 2:45 AM police and fire-rescue units responded to a residence at 212 South 13h Street, located and treated a twenty-seven old female suffering from multiple head wounds. She was found bleeding and unconscious in her bedroom. She was immediately transported by air ambulance to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

She arrived at the Shands Trauma Unit with life threatening injuries due to severe head trauma. She is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

The victim’s boyfriend, Terrell Jones, thirty-seven years of age, confessed to police detectives that he struck the victim several times with a hammer. This is not the first case of domestic violence involving the victim and Jones. Jones was charged with domestic battery in February of this year.

Terrell Jones, of Fernandina Beach, was arrested for aggravated battery and transported to the Nassau County Jail. No bond amount is known at this time.
