Mark Down March 26 for a Taste of the Blues

On March 26, the Blues Festival Committee rings in Spring with an 8 hour mini blues events "A Taste of the Blues". Mark it on your Calendar!

Blues Bucks are the official currency for the Blues Fests

On Saturday March 26, the Amelia Island Blues Society has a free Main Beach Taste of the Blues for you. Rather than knocking on doors of businesses and blues fans to ask for donations and funds to organize the magnificent September Festival where we have been lucky enough to contract triple time Award Winners Pinetop Perkins and Willy “Big Eyes” Smith as well as the masterful guitarist Albert Castiglia, thought it would be a great start of the Spring and give you an 8 hour long Taste of the Blues, as great musicians have donated their time and talent on this Saturday afternoon and Evening for the cause.

From 12:00 noon on we’ll have the Barbecue Pits smoking, followed by our concession stand serving Beer, Wine and Softdrinks.

• At 1 o’clock you’re getting a hour long treat from the Elm Street Choir, and if you have never heard them, this is the time to come and see them as they perform some of the most magnificent blues gospel ever produced.

• From 2:30 to 3 you will get to see and listen to a rare talent in the person of Julia Nikki Savage, who’s blues hangs a bit more towards the Jazz influence of Chicago and New York. If you have never heard Julia Nikki then this is the time to come out.

• Then from 3:30 until 5 you will get a treat from the Beech Street Blues Band, a trio of great musicians that just recently met here on island and have since built a repertoire of many of the greatest blues tunes ever written.

• and starting at 5:30 Jacksonville-Daytona Beach based Blues Rock band Blistur, with frontman guitar slinger extra ordinaire Chris Kellam will show you how blues is done. This band normally performs as a hardrock/metal band with a large following, but is so incredibly versatile that you will here some blues notes, you would only expect from Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

THEN

at 6:45 we are getting serious with an OPEN AUCTION. You can bid on a great variety of Music paraphernalia, exclusive rare albums and CD’s, some Joe Bonamassa signed Blues Festival T-shirts, posters and at least 2 electric guitars – One Peavy Patriot with case and one electric Epiphone Les Paul PEE WEE with carrying bag. This alone is worth coming out for. There is also a 50/50 Raffle on the agenda.

Oh and while we’re at it, IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING MUSIC RELATED YOU WANT TO DONATE TO OUR CAUSE PLEASE EMAIL US AND REMEMBER WE ARE A FLORIDA 501(c)3 which makes tour donation TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

We’ll close up this First “TASTE of the BLUES with local Superstar Karl Davis and his Band, as he will bring his soulful voice to you, while you enjoy another glass, knowing that only with your help can we bring a worldclass Blues Festival to our shores.

Please remember to drink responsibly and make arrangements with a Taxi or Limousine Service or appoint your preferred DD.
