The Shop with Cops program was initiated by Fernandina Beach law enforcement to give underprivileged children Holiday Cheers.
This year’s Shop with Cops program once again was a big success, as local Fernandina Beach police force members took some 175 underprivileged children to Walmart for some Holiday Shopping.
The Shop with a Cop charity program was initiated in 2004 by Don Monahan, who approached now retired police captain Jim Coe with the idea for the program. It’s another credit to our community that the program was immediately adopted by local law enforcement, the local churches, interest clubs and Walmart and became a staple for the Holiday Season.
Last year our Judie Mackie interviewed founder Captain Jim Coe of the Fernandina Beach Police Force on video, prior to his retirement three weeks later.
This year we were lucky to get master photographer Helmut Albrecht to give us a very memorable photographic impression of this beautiful event.
