Nassau County, Florida schools have posted the 2010-2011 bus routes Bryceville, Callahan, Fernandina Beach, Hilliard and Yulee.

Class Size Reduction 2010-2011 Strategies for Compliance

All Nassau County schools were initially allocated, based on enrollment projections, an appropriate number of core curriculum classroom teachers to meet the constitutionally mandated class by class caps at every grade level. Language Arts/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, ESOL, ESE, and courses taught in traditional self-contained elementary school classrooms are considered core curriculum classes.

The caps are:
PreK-3 18 students per class
4-8 22 students per class
9-12 25 students per class

No additional allocations will be considered until the 2010-11 school year begins and actual enrollment by school for core classes is analyzed.

The school district will utilize the following strategies to insure class by class compliance for core curricula courses:

    -Monitoring class by class enrollments during the first 10 days of school.
    -Monitoring of in-county and out-of-county transfers for space availability and ratio-reductions, including possible rescission of approval.
    -Assignment of on-line classes for core classes.
    -Making adjustments such as combining classes and/or cross grade groupings for instructional delivery.
    -Utilizing support units to teach sections of core courses.
    -Redirecting or reassigning non-core teachers to core classes within their school to meet caps, effectively reducing or eliminating selected sections of elective courses.
    -Suspension or elimination of extension programs at the elementary level to expand core course units.
    -Utilization of part-time or shared units to accommodate class-size ratios.
    -Monitoring of core class counts will be continued and proper adjustments made until the October 2010 FTE count is completed.

These strategies should not be considered inclusive, nor is it assumed that all strategy options will be necessary.
