Local Shaper creates nine boards for a Jacksonville bank and Northeast Florida surfboard giveaway contest.
JACKSONVILLE, Fl – RadiFi Credit Union announces a partnership with local surfboard shaping legend Mike Whisnant to create nine surfboards, one of which is the grand prize in a Northeast Florida surfboard giveaway contest open to the public. The recently rebranded credit union, which previously operated as Jax Federal Credit Union, will install the surfboards in their regional branches as part of an interactive display, and one board will be awarded to the winner of the RadiFi x Whisnant Surfboard Giveaway contest, which runs until July 31, 2023.
The new RadiFi brand tagline — “Make waves” — signals the organization’s innovative approach to financial services and creating impactful changes in the lives of the credit union’s members, as well as the community at large. The new brand, RadiFi, went live in March 2023, and embodies the relationship between the credit union and the community it serves. Northeast Florida is a nationally renowned surf destination in the state. The First Coast surfing community includes many small businesses and citizens of all ages that share a love of coastal living.

RadiFi is in the process of completing the interior redesign of its branches, which will include an interactive surfboard display. Starting in late summer, credit union members will be given a monthly question focused on the tagline, “Make waves,” posted on each branch’s custom RadiFi surfboard. Members will be invited to write their responses with dry erase markers on the 7-foot custom surfboard shaped by Mike Whisnant of Whisnant Surfboards. Each month, a member’s response will be featured on RadiFi’s social media accounts, highlighting personal experiences and insights on empowerment and financial well-being. The featured response will also be awarded a gift.
Whisnant, founder of Whisnant Surfboards, has been shaping surfboards in Northeast Florida for 34 years. He is known throughout the region as one of the top shapers due to his expertise in building boards from start to finish. The nine custom RadiFi surfboards are 7 feet long, funshape boards designed for surfers at all skill levels. The prize Whisnant surfboard is valued at $829.
