It takes a complete year and over 50 committee volunteers to pull off an event as big as the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.
The video below captures the essence of community and includes the traditional singing of our National Anthem and Invocation at opening ceremonies. You will also meet some of the committee volunteers who spend hours and hours preparing for the festival each year.
I have served off and on this committee for over 20 years as a Fernandina Pirates Club representative and know that is takes a team of dedicated folks working together to make this the successful event it has become.
Someone has to organize every aspect of the Festival, from parking to port-o-lets; from food to the fun zone; and from antiques to the shrimpers!
Thank you to the community, thank you to our volunteers and thank you to our sponsors for another wonderful event. With 2013 being the 50th Anniversary of the Shrimp Festival, one can only image what this committee has in store for you… mark your calendars now to attend next year, May 3 – 5, 2013!
