Mystery author Parker Francis recently released Hurricane Island, the third installment of the award-winning Quint Mitchell Mystery series. Francis will be signing copies of his new book at The Book Loft in Fernandina Beach on Saturday, May 16 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In Hurricane Island, Francis sends his private investigator to the fishing village of Cedar Key, Florida, where a relaxing visit with an old friend turns deadly. Quint and his girlfriend accept Woody Carpenter’s invitation for a weekend of fishing and relaxation, but they soon become embroiled in murder and kidnapping while Hurricane Freda bears down on Florida’s Gulf Coast. All of the action takes place in 24 hours in this fast-paced thriller.
Parker Francis is the pen name of award-winning author Victor DiGenti of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Known for his Windrusher adventure-fantasy novels featuring a feline protagonist, DiGenti made the leap to the hard-boiled suspense field with his first Quint Mitchell Mystery, Matanzas Bay, which won two major awards as an unpublished manuscript. Bring Down the Furies was the second in the series, and that book won the top prize in the 2013 Florida Authors & Publishers Associations President Awards Competition in the Mystery/Thriller category.
Early reviewers have praised Hurricane Island. Paul Levine, the John D. MacDonald Award-winning author of legal thrillers called the book, “A rip-roaring thriller and tightly wound mystery wrapped in one. Can a killer storm – or a flesh-and-blood killer – stop Quint Mitchell? The pages will race by as you find out.”
And Shamus Award-winning author Michael Wiley had this to say: “Hurricane Island will blow you away. With a murder, a double kidnapping, rising winds, and a pocketful of alligator teeth, this is a perfect storm of a mystery.”
Hurricane Island is available as a trade paperback and an eBook for Kindle from Amazon.com.
