Each year the Fernandina Pirates Club gives a scholarship to a Nassau County senior. This year the kind hearted and fun loving pirates awarded a $1,500.00 scholarship to Kacey Guenther, a Fernandina Beach high school student who will be attending the University of Miami in the fall.

The recipients are judged on their submitted essays about Pirates, past, present or future. Areas that Pirates are unfamiliar with, such as the knowledge of the alphabet, originality and concept, sited references, grammer and the like are judged by a handful of the plundering pillagers and a winner is chosen.

This year, the best essays the club has ever received were submitted by the young students and two honorable mentions will be rewarded with exposure in a variety of publications.

Here is the video announcing the winners! For more information about the Fernandina Pirates Club visit their website.
